POLK CITY - Mr. William Dennis Combee, age 68, a lifetime Polk County resident passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a long battle with leukemia.
Mr. Combee was born October 9, 1941 in Lakeland, Florida to Lonnie and Elsie (Johnson) Combee. He was a lifetime cattle rancher of the Green Pond area. He retired from Publix after 32 years of service, moving from a Publix truck driver to grocery warehouse supervisor. Mr. Combee's work ethics were outstanding as he believed in hard work was the only path to success in life. He was a lifetime member of Green Pond Baptist Church in Polk City. He enjoyed hunting most of all in the Ocala National Forest and the outdoors. Dennis "Butthead" joins the honorary list of fallen Ocala hunters: (Harold "Cheeseman" Hinman, Larry "Black Truck" Matthews and Jackie "Candy Loader" Keeble). He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Helen Louise Combee; son Robert A. (Lorie) Combee; 2 daughters: Lannis D. (Danny) Wilson and Sherri L. (Billy) Judd, all of Polk City; 4 sisters: Lilly Gale, Plant City, Freida (Darrell) Massey, Polk City, Faye (Julian) McLure, Auburndale, Nancy (Benny) Gibson, Plant City; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Green Pond Baptist Church, 5995 Green Pond Church Road, Polk City with interment to follow at the Green Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home.
