Lakeland - Mr. William "Bill" Dodson, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from heart failure. Bill was born on September 19, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Bill Dodson joined the US Army as a Military Police and was a Korean War Veteran. During his service period he received; a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Dodson was a retired police officer and Bailiff. He retired from Greenville, PA Police Department. Bill became a Lakeland resident in 1985 and retired from Polk County Sheriff Office. Mr. Dodson was also a private pilot and loved animals, especially cats.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Karl M. Dodson and Jennie Grace McAFee Smith and grandson, Benjamin Loreno. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Joyce Elliott Dodson of Lakeland; daughters, Pamela K. Gent of Meadville, PA and Patricia K. Dodson of Indiana, PA; sisters, Karrol J. Mackert of Duluth, GA and Janet G. McGuire of Clearwater, FL; brother, Frank L. Hoover of Meadville, PA; grandchildren, Ryan Loreno, Megan Klingensmith and Stephen Klingensmith.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at North Lakeland Presbyterian Church, 6725 N. Socrum Loop, Lakeland.
