Board Teacher

BARTOW - Susan Miller Hammond, 56, passed away October 7, 2012 at LRMC due to heart failure.
She was born August 22, 1956. As a lifelong resident of Polk County, she was raised in Auburndale, graduated from Auburndale High School and then earned her BA in Education from USF.
Mrs. Hammond was a teacher in the Polk County school system for 29 years. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students.
Mrs. Hammond is preceded in death by her father, Steve Miller, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Agnes Miller, her husband, Donald Ham-mond, her brother Steve Miller, Jr., her children Heather Highsmith Brown (Kurt), Holly Highsmith, Haley High-smith Evans (Phil), Harrison Highsmith, her stepchildren Jessica Ham-mond, Garrett Hammond, Raymond Hammond, her grandchildren Peyton Pall, Austin Thomas-Cribbs, Brandon Ham-mond, Hannah Awad, Holden Evans and Karmen Evans.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Church, 3800 Recker Highway, Winter Haven 33880 at 1:00 pm with a celebration of life beginning at 2:00 pm by Pastor Michael Spivey on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
