HAMILTON, 83

LAKELAND - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ritter Hamilton died Monday, November 5, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 83.
She was married to the love of her life, Ellis Hamilton, for 60 years. Mary's true joy was serving others. She taught Sunday School, worked in missions organizations, assisted with 4-H endeavors, loved to cook, and was an accomplished seamstress.
She leaves behind her husband, Ellis, her son, Raymond Hamilton her daughter, Anna Hughes (son-in-law Doug) and son-in-law Greg Clark. Her daughter, Ginny Clark passed away in 2011. Her grandchildren are Kendra Richardson Turner, Bryan Clark, Jackie Clark Evans, Zachary Clark, Mary Beth and Sam Hughes. Her great-grandchildren are Abby and Claire Turner and Alex and Tyler Evans. Her brother, Jesse Ritter, and her sister, Gloria Fussell, also survive her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Veola Ritter, brothers Bill, Don and Johnny, and sister Annie Ruth Combee.
A true "strawberry girl", Mary was a 1946 graduate of Kathleen High School. She worked at S.H. Kress & Co., Prudential Mortgage and Loan and then at Mine & Mill before joining Ellis to manage the office of Buddy Systems, Inc., their drilling company. Mary grew up in Gapway Baptist Church, but spent most of her adult life as an active member of Griffin Baptist.
Visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Griffin Baptist Church (3225 Kathleen Road, Lakeland) with service to follow at 11am. Interment will be in Auburndale Memorial Park, next to her parents.
