WINTER HAVEN - Walter A. "W.A." Cothron, 85, of Winter Haven, died at home on November 8, 2012 of congestive heart failure.
He was born in Plant City in 1927 and moved with his parents to Winter Haven as an infant. He served two terms in the US Army and married his wife Verona in 1958. He was a self-employed master carpenter and a member of Winter Haven Church of God.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Synthia Cothron, his daughter, Joann Cothron, his great granddaughter Kimmie Handlowich and his sister, Cleo Harper. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Verona "Vicky", three daughters, Debbie Sweat of Orange Park, Florida, Shirley Wildman (Richard) of Lake Wales and Lynn O'Neal (Billy) of Ocala; two brothers, Clyde Cothron (Ruby) and J.W. Cothron (Marie), 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10AM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral services will follow at 10AM. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Condolences to the family can be sent to:
