CARYL, 84

LAKELAND - Robert D. Caryl passed away March 28, 2013 due to cancer. He was born in Scranton, PA. on August 17, 1928, the son of Ethel G. and Ernest D. Caryl. Bob, and his wife Donna, were married in Kansas City Missouri in 1952 and have two children, Christine Jean of Concord CA. and Bruce of Scottsdale AZ. They have been blessed with four grandchildren.
Bob graduated from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, Missouri with an Associate of Science Degree in electronics and started his career as an avionics technical writer for Wilcox Electronics. He joined Rockwell International in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1954 as an Avionics Technical Writer and moved into management in 1960. He supervised Rockwell installations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dallas, Texas, and Newport Beach, California and served as a Division Director for 20 years. Bob retired in 1989 after 35 years of service. He served in the US Army Signal Corps in Japan in 1946 and 1947 and was an Associate Feature-Writer for Stars & Stripes.
He moved to Lakeland, FL. in July 1993. He served as an Elder & Trustee in several Presbyterian Churches in Iowa and was a Department Chairman for the East Iowa Presbytery. He was a past Session member of First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL.
He was a member of Imperial Lakes Country Club. He served as President of the Imperial Lakes Council and Secretary/Treasurer of the Leigh Lakes Homeowners Association.
Bob is survived by his wife, Donna of 60 years; daughter, Christine A. Jean and her husband Grady and their two children, Tyler & Connor of Concord, CA.; son, Bruce A. Caryl and his wife Karla and their two children, Natalie & Nicole of Scottsdale, AZ.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday April 5th at First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland.
