Korean War Veteran
LAKELAND - Harry M. Morton, 83, of Lakeland, passed away April 24, due to heart disease.
Harry was born in Millersville, PA and graduated from Manor High School in 1947. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for a time as a steeplejack before starting a career as a mechanic in the airline industry. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School and became certified in all aspects of aircraft maintenance, working as an inspector, a mechanic, and in quality control.
He retired in 1989 and moved to Lakeland where he became active in the Cypress Lakes community. He developed and started the recycling program there.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet; two sons Sidney L. and Philip S. both of Lakeland; and four nieces. He was preceded in death by two sons, H. Steven Morton and Jeffrey Morton.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Cypress Lakes Clubhouse.
