LONG, 87

BARTOW - Charles L. Long, age 87, passed away from leukemia, Saturday, June 29, 2013.
Born May 9, 1926 in Meridian, MS, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Alice Eugenia (Miller) Long. Mr. Long was a longtime Bartow resident and member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mr. Long retired from CSX after forty years of service in the railroad industry. He then worked as a security officer for Florida Southern College from twenty years before retiring once more. Mr. Long was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Long. Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sara F. Long of Bartow, two daughters: Lana N. Brown of Tampa, Debbie Tuck (Lloyd) of Winter Haven, his step daughter, Betty Coker of Bartow, two sisters: Eugenia Long and Betty J. Hume of Jacksonville. He also leaves behind five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 5th from 10AM to 11AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Bartow. A funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the . Condolences to the family at
