LAKE CITY - Billy Gene Chism, 69, of Lake City, FL passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Lake City Medical Center due to heart failure.
Born June 25, 1944 in Joiner, Arkansas he was a resident of the Haines City area for most of his life before moving to Lake City in 2002. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army and was retired from the US Air Force. He also was retired after working as a long distance truck driver for a number of years.
Preceded in death by 2 sons, Bobby in 1988 and Danny in 2006; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Billy is survived by his wife of 39 1/2 years, Sandra; 2 sons, Jeff Chism and his wife Kari of Auburndale and Phillip Chism; a daughter, Kimberly Smith and her husband Brian of Haines City; 2 sisters, Ethel Ford of Polk City and Shirley Qualls of Winter Haven; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. Funeral Services will be at 10:00am, Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at .
