NEW PORT RICHEY - William "Bill" Bissi, 97, died August 16, 2013, at Trinity Memorial Hospital in New Port Richey of natural causes.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 9, 1915, Mr. Bissi has been a resident of New Port Richey since 1982. He received degrees from The George Washington University Law School and Northwestern University, Medill School of Journalism.
Mr. Bissi began working for the Social Security Administration in 1936.
He served in the US Army during World War II at the beaches of Normandy on D-day. Mr. Bissi opened his Disability Advocacy firm in New Port Richey in 1983.
In 1988, he began helping his clients throughout Polk County. "Bill" was founder, president and an advocate for the disabled for 30 years. Mr. Bissi, "The Man Who Cares", has helped countless people obtain a better quality of life.
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his son Douglas E. Bissi; daughters Deborah B. Brockington (Daryl), Rebecca A. Bissi (Dr. Joshua Bloom), Roberta B. D'Addario (Steven); 8 grandchildren, Jessica L. Zickefoose, Jason A. Hardman, Andrea C. D'Addario, John A. Hardman, Christopher S. D'Addario, Lauren M. D'Addario, Rachel F. Bloom, Sarah E. Bloom; 2 great grandchildren, Diana L. Zickefoose, Stefan L. Zickefoose. Preceded in death by his late wife, Dorothy J. Bissi.
Visitation was Tuesday, August 20, 5-8pm at Dobies FH, 7 Springs Chapel in New Port Richey, where services were held Wednesday August 21, 10am.
