VERO BEACH - Thomas Porter Clark, 78, of Vero Beach, FL, died Friday, October 11, 2013 at his residence, due to cancer.
He was born August 3, 1935 in Gary, Indiana and moved to Vero Beach in 1970, coming from Winter Haven, FL. He was a reservist in the US Army.
Mr. Clark was a 1958 graduate of the University of Florida. He was elected president of their Sigma Nu Fraternity and was also a member of the 1956 SEC Championship Baseball Team.
He had worked in the citrus industry, first as a field representative for the Florida Citrus Commission, as a salesman for Deerfield Grove Company, Wabasso, D-N-E Sales of Ft. Pierce and finally Indian River Packing Company, Vero Beach.
Mr. Clark was a life member of the Winter Haven Lodge #1672 of the BPOE, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1967-1968.
Tom is survived by 3 loving daughters: Jennifer of Gainesville, FL, Amanda of Los Angeles, CA and Linda of Vero Beach and 2 grandchildren, Sara and Jarod Huff, also of Vero Beach.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013 with a service to follow at 3 p.m., at the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
