LAKE WALES - Mr. Paul E. Giroux, 84, of Lake Wales, Florida died on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Life Care Center of Winter Haven, of heart failure. His beloved wife of forty-five years, Harriet, preceded him in death in January 2008.
He was born on August 29, 1929 in Quebec, Canada to Charles and Simone Giroux and moved to Lake Wales in 1994 from Berlin, New Hampshire. He was a retired Union Carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany during the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post #2520 in Berlin. He was of the Catholic faith.
Paul is survived by his daughter Christine Dippolito of Nassau, New York, a sister Joann Bernier and her husband Paul and their daughter Donna of Berlin, an aunt Irene Lavigne of Berlin, and his cousin Jeannine Giroux, of Montreal, Canada. He is also survived by an extended family of friends at Tower Lakes and Lake Wales.
Paul had a wonderful sense of humor, always quick with a one-liner, a wink and a smile. When he was young, he loved motorcycle racing and won many trophies. He and Harriet also loved racing on their snowmobiles and camping in New Hampshire. Paul's family would like to thank all of his friends who took time to visit him and cheer him up while he was ill. The family also extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Life Care Center for their diligence, compassion, and sense of humor. Every day they made "Mr. Paul" smile.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the Tower Lakes Clubhouse. Pastor Gerald Williams will officiate.
