HURST IMES, 84
WINTER HAVEN - Cristel Irene Hurst Imes, 84, died of heart failure on February 9, 2014.
The daughter of the late Emmett Carl and Winifred Hupp Hurst, she was born in Marietta, OH, on September 10, 1929.
A graduate of Jackson (Ohio) High School, Mrs. Imes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1951, from the Western College for Women, which is now affiliated with Miami University, Oxford, OH.
Mrs. Imes was a newspaper reporter for several Ohio newspapers, including The Columbus Dispatch, and was a feature writer for the Tampa (Florida) Times. A copywriter for the advertising department of O. Falks Department Store in the late 1950s, she also serves as public relations director for the United Fund of Greater Tampa, Inc., and for the Suncoast Girl Scout Council in Tampa. She was a former substitute teacher and teacher's aide at Garden Grove School, a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven, the Polk County Humane Society and a 50-plus year member of the Wellston Chase Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Wellston, OH.
Survivors include husband Roland Imes of Winter Haven; daughter Kendall (Kandi) Holysz of Orlando; son Steven of Normal, IL; sister Judy Oder of Findlay, OH; and three nieces; two granddaughters Kristin Marie Holysz and Holland Elyce Imes; and grandson Kyle Joshua Holysz.
