LAKELAND - James Henry Dansby, age 84, died of congestive heart failure Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Born in Lakeland on May 5, 1930, James was a lifelong resident. He retired from Lakeland Electric after 42 years and was a Florida National Guard veteran. He was a member of Abundant Life Church of God.
Mr. Dansby is survived by his wife Opal Dean Dansby, Lakeland; sons Donald James Dansby and his wife Denise, Ronald Henry Dansby, Terry Kenneth Dansby and his wife Jerrie, all of Lakeland; brother Gary Jefferson Dansby, Cleveland, TN; sister Gloria Dean Lord, Lakeland; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Abundant Life Church of God. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

James Henry Dansby
Was my friend, He had more respect for his fellow man ; then his fellow man for him. He had an inventors mind, and some of his invention are still being used on city trucks today. I had the most respect for him because he never cussed me or be-little me. I enjoyed working with him, learned from him, I will mess him. REST WELL MY BROTHER

Opal and family, doubt that you remember me but I was a bag boy at Kwik Chek when you were a cashier. Do remember James also. I speak with Bill Johnston often. Know that James had great life in the Lord.
