LAKELAND - Kenneth Franklin Wilhelm, 81, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Ken was born August 9, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick and Sue Wilhelm. At the age of 10 the family moved to Maryville, MO. Graduating from Maryville High School as a Spoofhound, he then attended the University of Missouri, Columbia. He was President of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956. Upon graduation, he was employed by L.E. Myers Co., Chicago for 15 years. Ken met Jackie Bell in St Louis and they were married in 1962 and resided in Naperville, IL. In 1972, he relocated his family to Lakeland and co-founded S&W Developers which is still in operation today. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church chairing many committees over the past 40 years. Ken was an avid antique clock collector, train enthusiast, Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Jackie; son, Greg Wilhelm (Theresa); daughters, Tracy Trinklein (Paul) and Kristen Mancherian (Randy); six precious grandchildren, Lauren Westwood (Keith), Josh, Rachel, Leevia, Naomi and Katie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Lakeland Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd, Lakeland, FL, 33813.
