Karen G. Roberts
2/20/1939 - 10/4/2014
Karen Gail Roberts passed away peacefully from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by her loved ones and we are cherishing the memories of our beautiful, sweet mother.
The eldest child of Clifford and Mary Knutson, Karen was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She grew up in Idaho and Grants Pass, Ore., and graduated from Grants Pass High School. She attended OSU where she was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and earned a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Education. Karen met her future husband, Richard Blaine Roberts, at OSU and they married July 8, 1961 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grants Pass, Ore. Karen enjoyed teaching elementary school in Corvallis, Ore., and Paradise, before living in Sacramento, San Jose and Auburn, Calif.
A kindhearted wife, mother, sister and friend, Karen was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. A gracious hostess, she could turn an ordinary gathering into a festive party. She also doted on the family pets including Freddy, Zack and Buffy. Karen's love and commitment to volunteering were evidenced by her contributions and involvement in school functions and church activities. She enjoyed travel with Dick, family and friends including: Northern California camping, Willow Lake, Yachats, Donner Lake, an Alaska Cruise and even a trip to Singapore!
But above all else, Karen adored her family: her beloved children Cindy Method (Mitch) and Craig Roberts; grandchildren Jessica and Tori Method; sisters Katie Craven (Gary) and Colleen Schulze (Rob); nieces, nephews and cousins. Her beloved husband of 46 years, Dick Roberts, preceded her in death on December 28, 2007.
A woman of uncommon warmth, compassion and faith, with a gorgeous smile, Karen will never be forgotten.
You are invited to celebrate Karen's life with us on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church 5100 Camden Ave. San Jose, CA. 95124. www.stlcsj.org.
