JOE PALMAS McALLEN - Joe Palmas, 63, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2013 at McAllen Nursing Center. Born in McAllen, Mr. Palmas was a graduate of McAllen High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of E-4 as an electrician. He was a fireman and paramedic with the City of McAllen. He worked in the oilfield for 15 years with Harkins & Company in Alice. Before his retirement, Joe worked for Metro Electric for ten years. All of us who were privileged to have known him can attest to the fact that Joe loved and lived his life to the fullest. He had a great love for the outdoors which included hunting, fishing and taking in all of the natural beauty with his photography. His greatest joy was dancing with the love of his life, his wife Linda Gonzalez Palmas. Mr. Palmas is survived by his loving wife who cared for him during his illness, Linda G. Palmas of McAllen; his two sons Joe Palmas III of Houston and Nicholas (Michelle) Palmas of New York; his step-daughter Linda Gonzalez of McAllen; his sister Alma Gloria Renk of McAllen; his two brothers Jose Noe (Darlene) Palmas of Lacey, Washington and Joel (Elizabeth R.) Palmas of Seattle, Washington; his nieces Maurita Palmas and Geena Rowin of McAllen; and one granddaughter, Whitley. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe Lenares Palmas and Bertha Gutierrez Palmas. Viewing and visitations will begin today, Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary being recited at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of McAllen. Burial with military honors will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral arrangements and services were entrusted to the care of Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen.
