JUAN JOEL GARCIA PHARR - Juan Joel Garcia, 37, (AT3) (AW) entered into eternal rest on February 13, 2014, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born to Jose Maria Garcia and Maria del Rosario Castillo Garcia in The Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama. He is survived by his family: Son, Dylan Joaquin Garcia; Father: Jose Maria Garcia (Command Sergeant Major, USA Retired); Daughters: Leticia Garcia, (Howard) Lucinda Jabari; Brothers, Jose Maria Garcia, Timothy Garcia; and his true love and friend, Kimberly Garza; uncles, aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria del Rosario Castillo Garcia. Juan was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all his family and friends, especially his Dad. He called his Dave every day from Nebraska. He loved his sons and enjoyed playing with them. He loved the Navy and would always have friendly discussions as to who was going to win in the Army-Navy game. He liked to help people and would so as many times possible. Juan joined the Navy while he was still in high school at the age of eighteen. He came home and surprising his parents by telling them he was going into the Navy. He joined the Navy to serve his country as his father and his father's brothers that has served during WWII, and during the Vietnam War. Juan was a second generation American, who served his country with honor. He was a great BBQ cook and his mother claimed his chicken was the best, even better than his father. He enjoyed BBQ with his father and family and friends. Juan worked for Kitchen Collection as Store Manager after he left the Navy. He owned and managed JK Trinkets and More located in El Centro Mall. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, February 20, 2014 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd, McAllen. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 am Friday, February 21, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2209 Kendlewood Ave. McAllen. Interment will follow at RGV State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission. We wish to thank Rivera Funeral Home for their kind assistance.
