MELCHOR "M.G." GARZA McALLEN - Melchor "M.G." Garza, age 78, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veteran's Home. A native of Edinburg he was a US Army veteran having been stationed in Germany for 2 years. He worked for HEB for 37 years in many supervisor capacities including store director. He had a real passion for HEB, he loved to fish, he enjoyed BBQuing & cooking, drinking Lone Star Beer, he enjoyed watching sports, (Texas Longhorns) and above all had a passion for his 3 grandsons: Christopher, Jared & Brian. He was preceded in death by his sister & spouse, Otila & Robert De La Fuente. He is survived by his wife, Anita Garza of McAllen, 3 children, Yolanda Alicia (Garza) Baxley of Ft. Worth, Oscar Ruben Garza (Esmeralda) of McAllen & Daniel Ricardo Garza of Bastrop, 2 sisters, Lydia (Jose Severiano) Cantu of Edinburg & Hilda (Pete) Sanchez of Edinburg, 2 brothers, Octavio (Otilia) Garza of Houston & Leonel Garza of Santa Fe, NM and 3 grandsons, Christopher Oscar Garza, Jared Alexander Garza & Brian Jacob Garza. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment with military honor provided by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg.
