I called him Uncle Nick. Aunt Emma pierced my ears in their dining room. I remember Uncle Nick studying law books and his children sitting on his lap. I married into the Lomas family in 1970, Houston. I kept in contact with Cookie for years so if anyone knows her, please tell her I'd love to chat. I'm in Benson Arizona

I remember having breakfast with him in the basement of 301 San Jacinto. He was quick to laugh and tell a funny story.
He would talk about his years in the military and was concerned with changes that were occuring in the judical system in Harris County.
I enjoyed those mornings very much. He will be missed

I am so sorry to hear of Judge Barrera's death. I have a very fond memory of him helping me get a polygraph test for a young employee that was fired, for cutting green coffee bean bags at Folger's Coffee Co. I was ICWU president and I just knew this young gentleman did not cut the bags. Judge told me where to take him. After taking the test, he was proven "Not Guilty", and next morning thanks to our across the street neighbor--Judge Barrera--this young man was back at work. I am forever grateful for his care.
