MISSION - Carlos "Cookie" Garza, Jr., 42 , died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his residence in Mission.
Born in Edinburg, Carlos had lived in Mission all of his life. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia L. Garza of Mission; six children, Alaina Avail Garza of Mission, Vanessa Garza of Edinburg, Demi Garza of Pleasanton, TX., Miranda Garza of San Antonio, TX., Tamara Bernal of Edinburg, and Samantha Garza of San Antonio, TX.; parents, Carlos and Julia Garza, Sr. of Edinburg; one sister, Nora V. Garza Patruno, of Edinburg; one brother Erasmo (Maria) Mendez of Edinburg; three nieces and nephews, Ashley Rivera, Brandy Rivera, and Dominique Patruno, all of Edinburg; in-laws, Roberto and Yolanda Ramirez of Mission; brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Thelma Ramirez, Arnulfo and Alma Ruiz, all of Edinburg, Ana Ramirez, Eddie and Veronica Ramirez, Compadres Manny and Araceli Garcia, Jerry and Anita Ramirez, all of Mission, George and Ronnie Quiroz and Adrian and Angelica Salazar, all of McAllen; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, May 9, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be Manuel Garcia, Gerardo Ramirez, Eduardo Ramirez, Roberto Ramirez, Joe Serna and Leonel Ramirez, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adan Serna, Adrian Sanchez, Jerry Garza, Alfredo Garza, Jr., and Erasmo Mendez.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
