Obituary Condolences

GUS N. PETERS Gus N. Peters, 85, of McAllen, Tx, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the fifth of nine children born of Nicholas and Elpis Peters. Gus graduated from University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science with dual majors in Petroleum Geology and Petroleum Chemistry and a minor in English. When the Korean War broke out June 21, 1950, Gus said that he won the "Lottery of his life"…it was the draft lottery and he was the 1st one from Morrill County to be drafted into the Army. He was married to Hazel J. Kelley on March 10, 1956 in San Antonio, Tx. Some of Gus's achievements that he was the most proud of were the numerous patents and designs for the first coin operated car washes. After retiring, Gus and Hazel enjoyed traveling the states in their motor home. Gus is survived by his wife Hazel, children: Wyatt Peters (Terri) and Sherri Soliz (Guillermo), grandchildren: Shelby Peters, Kaitlin Peters, Sebastian Soliz, Christian Soliz, Cassandra Reyes, and John Michael Reyes, siblings: Jim Peters (Doris), Pat Peters (Evangeline), John Peters (Mary), Ester Yung (Bill), and Paul Peters (Shirley). Gus was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Pete, Sophie, and Bill. Viewing was held from 6-8 Thursday, October 3rd at Kreidler Funeral Home.
