WESLACO - Former Constable Horacio A. Aguirre, 66, passed away on October 13, 2009 at Knapp Medical Center.
He was born on April 10,1943 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico and son of Manuel Aguirre and Juanita Garza.
He is survived by his wife Gavi Aguirre; daughters: Mina A. (Martin) Garcia, Sandra (Humberto) Arizmendi, and Loriann (Alberto) Aguirre; one sister Lisa A. Perez; 3 grandchildren: Selina Aguirre, Martin Garcia Jr., Merissa Garcia; and 2 great-grandchildren: Andres Ortiz and George Gomez.
Mr. Aguirre was in law enforcement for 29 years. He served as Constable of Hidalgo County Pct. 1 for 24 years and Deputy Constable for 5 years.
Visitation will be held today Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Judge Jesse Morales, Edgar Ruiz, Blanca Sanchez, Alberto Aguirre, and Pablo Pena. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Hawkins, Irma S. Hawkins and Raul Garza
Funeral Services are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.
