MARIA ALICIA CACERES|
Maria Alicia Caceres, 78 passed into eternal life with Christ on November 1, 2009. She was born on August 14, 1931 to Majin Rivas and Consuelo Santa Maria in Alamo, Texas.
She was married to her war hero, Artemio Caceres for 53 years. Right alongside her husband, she was a valley pioneer and owned a family business, "Juan W. Caceres" grocery store in Weslaco.
She is survived by six sons Artemio Jr. (Melba), Roberto (San Juanita), Noel F., Roel (Rita), Mayo (Amalia), Carlos and four daughters, Alicia (Eliazar) Diaz, Clara Contreras, , Consuelo (Joe John) Elizondo, Rosie Barbosa; she has 22 grandchildren and seven great-grand children and one great-great grandchild; four sisters Dora Rivas, Francis Rivas, Connie Hatten, Carmen Elliot and five brothers Fernando Rivas, Alonso Rivas, Homero Rivas, Mario Rivas, and Armando Rivas. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in law, Armando Caceres, Maria Peralez, Ciro Caceres, Margaret Caceres, Irma Caceres, and Jacinto Caceres; numerous nieces and nephews who admired and witnessed her devotion to family and a heartfelt special thanks to her care giver Flor Cantu.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Artemio Caceres, her parents Majin and Consuelo Santa Maria and her brother Luis Rivas.
Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
Visitation is from 1 pm-9 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral mass is on Wednesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Burial service will be conducted at Donna City Cemetery immediately following the church service, under the direction of Vaughan Funeral Home in Donna.
