McAllen - Myra Lee Martinez, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Feb. 8, 2011 in San Antonio, TX after valiantly going into surgery to donate her kidney to save lives.
She was a H.S. Science Teacher at Memorial H.S. Myra graduated from McAllen Memorial H.S. in 2001 and UT-San Antonio with a Bachelors in Biology. She was a best friend to many and she loved her family deeply, as they did her. She is and was a true angle here on earth with a heart of gold. Her influence and the memory of her strength, love and devotion for her family and friends will never fade. She will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Canuta Rivas Martinez and Filomeno Martinez; maternal grandparents, Dolores and Juan M. Rodriguez; uncle, Reynaldo Rodriguez.
She is survived by her parents, Juan and Delia Martinez; two sisters, Maribel Martinez Campos (Ricardo) and Melinda Veronica Martinez Vega (Ricardo); brother, Juan Martinez, Jr (Christina Yzaquirre); nieces and nephews, Sophia Gabriella, Justin, Victoria and Isabella.
Visitations will be held from 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 and Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 with rosary being recited both days at 7 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen.
