1923 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
PEDRO TREVIÑO PROGRESO/MISSION - Pedro "Pete" Treviño, 90, a lifelong resident of Progreso, Texas, entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 16, 2014, in McAllen. He was born to Jose Maria and Andrea Treviño on October 29, 1923, in Mercedes, Texas. He lived most of his life in Progreso with his wife, Enedina. Pedro was a well-known member of his community. For years he owned and operated Pete's Grocery in Progreso, building the business from the ground up. He most enjoyed being with his family, caring for his lakefront property, and his frequent travels to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Pedro will be remembered for his wisdom, his strength, his humor, and perhaps most of all for his generosity and the depth of his love for his family and friends. He took every opportunity to converse with everyone he knew or just met, and gave what he could to others in grand gestures or small ones. To know him was to appreciate his warm smile, his meaningful words, and the hardworking spirit that drove his existence. Pedro will be greatly missed by his wife, Enedina; two daughters, Gloria Butler (Charles Butler) and Susie Mendez; grandchildren, Pedro Oliva (Paula Oliva), Amanda Mendez, and Alexis Mendez; and two great-grandchildren, Maryn Dina Oliva and Mason Dean Oliva. Graveside services will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
