HECTOR HERNANDEZ MISSION - Hector "Tito" Hernandez, 63, 23 year veteran of the US Navy, Ret., and 30 year dedicated and loyal employee of Rio Grande Regional Hospital, died in his sleep Saturday night, March 15, 2014. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and brother-in-law, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elvia Rodriguez Hernandez, his daughters Angelica (Alejandro) Benavidez and Jasmine Hernandez, his son Hector (Amelia) Hernandez, his grandchildren Alyssa L. Hernandez, Alejandro Benavidez, Jr., Aaron I. Benavidez, his mother Esperanza C. Hernandez de Garcia, his sisters Noemi Regina (Hector) Luevano, Belinda Garcia, his brothers Jose Maria (Irma) Garcia, Daniel Javier (Janie) Garcia, Corando Garcia, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Alicia Berta Gonzalez and Maria Andrea Garza, and nephew Roberto "Bobby" Gonzalez Jr. The body will lie in state for viewing Tuesday from 2-9pm with a 7pm rosary as well as on Wednesday, from 2-9pm with a 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 12:30pm Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his two favorite charities: Easter Seals RGV and/or Mujeres Unidas. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
