SANTOS HERNANDEZ McALLEN - Santos Hernandez, 77, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. Born in Donna, Texas, Mr. Hernandez was a retired general manager for a local lumber company. He had a tremendous zeal for life and enjoyed the outdoors while spending his time landscaping his home as well as camping, fishing and hunting. His biggest enjoyment came from bar-b-quing for his family and friends and entertaining them with his guitar. Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his parents Gabina Cavazos Hernandez and Eusebio Hernandez, Sr., and two sisters Dominga Alvarez and Guadalupe Perez. He is survived by his loving wife Isabel Gonzalez Hernandez; his adoring children which includes his son D.J. Hernandez; and three daughters, Maribel (Joe) Carranco, Anabel (Felipe) Robledo, and Sandra (Joe Gamez) Trevino; eight grandchildren which includes O.J. and Adriana Carranco, Klarissa Almaraz, Alexandria and Gabrielle Trevino, Denally and Heide Hernandez and Janelle Hinojosa; two brothers Salvador and Eusebio Hernandez, Jr.; seven sisters San Juana Cavazos, Alicia Castillo, Maria Vallejo, Ester Villarreal, Rosalinda Rodriguez, Florinda Hernandez and Diana Flores; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will begin today, Monday, April 7, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary being recited at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of McAllen. Burial with military honors by VFW Post #8777 will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
