Obituary Condolences

DONALD DEAN DEFOREST Donald Dean DeForest, 84, was called home Monday, June 16, 2014, at 5:04 p.m. Originally from Houghton Lake, Michigan, he followed his job with Sun Oil and settled in San Isidro, Texas. He and his family moved to Mission in 1965. He worked at Sun Oil until retirement. He called Texas home the rest of his life. In 1949 he married the love of his life, Johanna Allbee. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on July 23, 2014. He never met a stranger. He loved gardening, his dogs, Bino and Pup Pup and his rabbit, Thumper. He was a very loving and supportive grandpa and great-grandpa. He always attended his kids', grandkids' and great-grandkids' extracurricular activities as often as possible and he enjoyed "touring" garage and estate sales on Saturday mornings. He will be greatly missed, but we have the assurance that this is not good bye, but a mere "see ya later." He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cheril and her husband, Les Hefner; his parents, Donald and Mabel DeForest; a brother; and a sister. Mr. DeForest is survived by his wife, Johanna; four sons, William (LaJuana), Donald (Mary Jane), Douglas (Belinda) and Gary DeForest; two daughters, Belinda (Isidro) Arce and Cindy (Joe) Espino; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today, June 19, 2014, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Cremation will take place at Sacred Park Crematorium in Weslaco. Funeral services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
