Obituary Condolences

MARY ALEENE (NEE PRICE) STOTLER Mary Aleene (nee Price) Stotler, 88, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25. She passed quietly in her Corpus Christi home surrounded by family. Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania and raised in Osborn, Ohio, Mary's efforts to pursue a musical career were cut short when an illness forced her to withdraw from the College of Music of Cincinnati. She subsequently moved with her family to McAllen, where she met and married Earl, her husband of 65 years, known as "Goober' to friends and family. Mary's life thereafter was centered around her husband and three sons, seeing to their every need. She also served the community through the Parent Teacher Association and through the numerous "Noche' benefits hosted by her Beta Sigma Phi sorority. All who knew Mary were aware of her extraordinary artistic talents, manifest in the numerous paintings, scrapbooks and other works she leaves behind. Those paintings have won prizes, been sold to enthusiastic buyers, and are treasured by family members. While the scrapbooks began as an effort to document memorable events, they led to an intense interest in genealogy, culminating in the "Book of Ruth', an extensively researched and comprehensive Stotler family history named in honor of Earl's mother. Mary is survived by her brother, Jack of Puxico, Missouri; three sons, Kim of Corpus Christi, wife Wanda; Daren of Plainsboro, New Jersey, wife Margaret; and Dana of Flower Mound, wife Marcy; as well as five grandchildren, Brent, Tiffany, Briana Villaneuva, Lauren, and Alexis; and three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nicholas, and Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband earlier this year, parents Florence and Oliver Price of Corpus Christi, sister Norma Jean of Dayton, Ohio, and son David Wayne. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at the Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. Funeral services will take place at Kreidler on Monday at 10 AM, followed by an 11 AM graveside service at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
