I knew Dr Joe for a brief period in 1979-1980 when I volunteered at CHI. His dedication to serving God by serving others continues to inspire me whenever I reflect back on that time. It would be impossible not to remember such a good man with gratitude. May the legacy of his life continue to offer comfort in this loss and inspiration in this life.

Mrs. Suderman and family,
On behalf of the hundreds and most likely thousands of children's whose lives were touched through Dr. Joe's life and ministry- we here at Children's Haven wish to express our most heartfelt condolences upon his passing. It was encouraging to read about how many ministries God allowed him to be a part of during his life, and Children's Haven was certainly blessed to be at the top of his priority list for so many years. The work that God allowed him to help establish alongside Shirley Mendoza, continues on today, and I am certain they have already gotten together to rejoice in what the Lord has continued to do for His Glory.
We wish God's peace and comfort for each of you at this difficult time.

A man with a heart for the Lord and for his work. I think the best thing that can be said of a person is that they served the Lord. Dr. Joe as we knew him served his Lord and Savior. May God comfort you in your loss.

May the memories your loved one left with you... comfort you...sustain you...and help to see you through this time of loss.
My parents, Frank and Helena Hiebert, knew Dr. Joe for many years. He will be missed at the family reunion in Enid.

I have fond memories of Uncle Joe ... many years ago he was has the leader in family reunions. The family reunion that I attended with Mom (his sister Luella) that I particularly recalled was at Colorado Springs. I remember beautiful surroundings of trees a mountains. Uncle Joe led a service during that time and I remember his voice was strong and he always had a warm quick smile. I will always have that memory.

Dr Joe delivered our 2 sons, Benjamin and Joshua in his clinic in Pharr, and also doctored my wife and I through the 1980,s. Though the clinic is gone too I will always remember the care we received there. May the Lord bless and comfort your family during this time. George and Esther Davis

Although we only knew Dr. Joe for a very short time-1 1/2 years ( 1979-1981), while we worked at CHI, he is in our memories forever as the kindest, most humble, most self-sacrificing, and godly man. In fact, just last week we were telling friends about him. What an encouragement he always was too. Our hearts grieve with you in your loss and rejoice in his victory. His was a life well lived- a good and faithful servant! May the God of all comfort comfort you in your loss. May youfeel the everlasting arms upholding you.

My heart goes out to the Suderman family. I was one of those babies that Dr. Joe delivered and he also delivered my daughter. He was very close to my mother, and was on the board for Children's Haven. He helped so many, was so giving. I will never forget those "treatments" he used to give me, as he also would align my back. I have so many memories with him, like the first time I ever saw a baby born, when we were down South of Mexico City, where he would go and deliver babies and medical services. He was a wonderful man, a Godly man. He will be missed. Joe, you are a lucky man to be with your savior, you lived a wonderful full life, give my mom a hug for me!

Very sorry to hear about your loss! I have not been in contact with Dr. Joe for years but saw him frequently when I worked at Children's Have and also as a Doctor in Pharr, Texas. He was a good man. My condolences go out to the family. God Bless You!
Sncerely Margaret Dyck(Margaret Fehr when I worked at Children's Haven from 1980-1986).

I will miss you, Grandpa! You always had an answer for every question about health and life. Thank you for delivering so many babies on either side of the border. I am certain the Lord was pleased with providing a way for people to come and receive your services even free of charge. Hang in there, Grandma. This is only the beginning to the rest of your "lives" one day in heaven. One day we will celebrate together. Many lives were touched by you two and those people will continue to past the love on.
Love you Grandpa

My sympathy goes out to Mrs. Suderman and the rest of Dr. Joe's family. I came to South Texas to be the first RN to work in his practice. Dr. Joe had ulterior motives and got me involved in Children's Haven International where I served for 20 years. He lived a simple life with a priority to serve God and his fellow man. He was loved and appreciated by many, but his gaze was on his heavenly rather than earthly reward.

Suderman Family:

Dr. Joe was a dear family friend and doctor for the Ybarra Family from Mission. I married Jonas Ybarra in 1968 and that is how I met Dr. Joe. He deliever our daughter (my first child)when we could not afford a hospital. He was our family doctor, personal friend, and we work very hard at the Pharr Mennonite Church in Pharr, TX. I will never forget he was always there for his patients and friends (any time of the day or night). Roselee was always there in all his endeavors. They left the Rio Grande Valley and I never heard from them, our children grew up, our professional careers moved us, but the love for the Dr. Joe and the Suderman family will always be in our hearts. Our children now adults still remember all the visits to the clinic; and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts all he did for us. We will miss you, but we will see you someday in heaven. Roselee thank you for sharing him with all of us.

A man dedicated to the Lord and a sacrificial giver to the Lord's work - a great inspiration to me. He certainly is hearing "Well done, my good and faithful servant" now, as he is welcomed into his eternal home. May the Lord embrace his family with His Grace during this time.

My heartfelt condolences to Dr. Joe's family. He was such a kind man. I was a patient of his from childhood and on. He delivered 3 of my babies. I remember his clinic so well. Dr. Joe will never be forgotten.

Dr. Joe was a special person who loved the Lord and helped so many people as a doctor. I worked at the Suderman Clinic (1970-1971) but I was a patient when I was younger and attending El Faro. He was happy and proud about Rachel getting her flying license when she was so young. I am sure he was proud of each one of his children.

My thoughts & prayers are with family and friends. I know you do not know me but I was brought into this world, as was my older sister, by Dr Suderman. I was a patient of his for many many years and my Mother ALWAYS spoke so highly of him. I only wished he would've been my daughters pediatrician/doctor but she was not born till '92. My thought and prayers are with you.

Thank you,
