Larry Tankersly stopped by with some of that good Valley fruit and broke the sad news of Jim's passing. I am so sorry for you and your girl's loss. I met Jim once at your house and he seemed like such a good man. I am at a loss for comforting words, but know that I care and will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Love you.

My sincere condolences to the family. I am a cousin of Jims; the son of Leah, his Aunt. I only meet Jim once for a short time but he was extremely pleasant and friendly. Jim was a wonderful individual. We talked about sharing a meal sometime. How I wish we had done that.

My condolences to the family. Jimmy was a high school friend. Reading about the football days brings back many memories. He wore his letter jacket and was really proud of it. He was quite a young man then, as i know he was throughout his life.

Dear Jann, Mindy and Christina, I know how hard is was for you to watch Jim slip away over so many days. Just know that what he left behind was so meaningful to the many people he touched over the years. My first memory of Jimmy Joe was watching him play in his playpen in the living room of the small apartment Norm and Dorothy rented while Norm was at Lackland in San Antonio. I was only 5 or 6 at the time, but the memory has stayed with me all these years. He is my cousin. I remember being with the Schroeder family in the house out back when Doc was taking care of our large herd of dairy cows we had in the pens by the canal bank. Norm, Blackie, Jane and Bob singing in harmony along with their folks. What great times. One Christmas day we were all at the log house for dinner and Norm put boxing gloves on Jimmy and I and tried to teach us how to box. Jimmy hit harder than I did. I could go on and on with old stories, but right now I want you to know how much I share your grief, miss Jim and have another hole in my life that won't be filled until we are all together again. Though Jim is gone, know that you are not alone.
Love,Your Cousin, Don

Mindy, and family. I never met your dad but I have always heard great things about him. There are no better words to describe him but Mr. Mission, and what an honor that is for those of us who love our beloved city of Mission. I know that there are no words to comfort you, but it appears god needed him in heaven. My love to all of you, May you find comfort and strength knowing you had such a great man and all he blessed in your lives. In love and light Namaste.

Jann, Mindy, and Family...I already miss Jim's smile and his friendly, caring nature. I knew he was a great person the first time I met him at a car show ( that goes double for you Jann!)
It was a real treat when he invited me over to your "compound", ride the cart, and look at the homes, the trees, the plants, the pond, and of course, all the cars and all the various memorabilia.
Jann...I know you and Mindy will get through this difficult time, because you have a close knit family and close friends you consider family.
Please don't be a stranger to your "car community". We all look forward to seeing you and Mindy.
LOVE...BILL

Dearest Jann, I had met Jim only a few times and found him to be such a quiet, calm, sensitive man who loved his family with all his heart. Knowing that you chose him to be in your life told me just how wonderful he was and continues to be. One could see the love between you. My sincerest sympathy to you and the girls. My belief is that Jim is merely in another beautiful place/life surrounded by his loved ones including his beloved pets. He is watching over you and will be there when God brings you "Home." Know this and watch & listen for sounds/scents which will tell you he is right there beside you. My love to you always, and may God Bless & Keep You and Your Family.

I was a few years younger than "Jimmy Joe" but well remember the big family get-togethers in the 1950's-60's after the family moved south from Iowa in the 1940's. Lynda and I extend our sympathies to Jann and the family in the passing of a good man.

JIM , WHAT CAN ONE SAY AT A TIME LIKE THIS. OUR DAD CARRIED THIS SMALL VERSE FOR YEARS AND I WOULD LIKE TO READ IT NOW.
The Clock Of Life is wound but once
And no one has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour
Now is the only time you own
So live, love and toil with a will
Place no faith in tomorrow for
The Clock may then be still
Rest In Peace , Jim

Dear Jann & family,
Jimmy was a classmate from our early years at Carnahan through high school in Pharr.
It was a pleasure knowing him as a wonderful boy, who grew into an honorable man, a tribute to his family, upbringing & community.
We share a love of collecting & acquired a couple of clocks during the late '70s from the same collection through Mr. Shawn.
May you be blessed by the love & tender outpouring of family & friends while you continue to cherish wonderful memories during these sad times of grief.
As many who mourn with you, my most sincere condolences are being sent to each of you, with love.

Aunt Jann, Mindy and Christina, One of my memories of being in TX as a kid was being at your house and your dad sitting in this big recliner and Christina sitting in his lap reading him a book. Even though he was always a man of few words, even back then I could tell how much love was in your house. May you all find comfort in your best memories. Love Heather, Brandin, Megan and Ashlyn

My earliest memory is of Grandma and Grandpa Curl calling him Jimmy Joe, before he grew into Jim. I remember Jann bringing me over to visit when they were first married and lived in Pharr and Mindy was on the way! I remember him taking Drew to see the cows on the ranch, and how much Jim resembled Grandpa Curl in that moment!! I remember his generosity with my Dad. What a gentle giant.... I know he's gone on and is delighting in seeing all those we loved that went before him, and I know we will see him again. My heart goes out to Jann, Mindy and Christina as their hearts ache with this loss.....

Mr. Schroeder, you will be missed by so very many. You were truly one of the greatest men I ever knew. When Christina and I were no more than six yrs old..Mrs. Schroeder opened your home to twenty some odd Girl Scouts. We were there every Thursday..being as loud and obnoxious as possible. I clearly remember you walking into the house..looking at us run a muck. All the while your beautiful Wife..helping us earn our badges. You were always calm..always extremely interested in helping us out. Many men would have simply walked out until we left. Not you..you truly enjoyed helping. I shall never forget your loving, helping nature. Your absolute love for your Daughters and that glimmer in your eye..everytime you looked at the love of your life. You and Mrs. Schroeder had something most people only dream about. Y'all were so very fortunate to live it and spend each day together in love and joy. I know you are looking down on us from heaven..and I know you are happy and no longer suffering. I take solace in the fact..you lived a great life. Full of happiness and love. However, it brings me much joy to know you brought love and joy to all whom you knew..or chose to take the time to volunteer of yourself in order to befriend and love others..perhaps less fortunate. Once again, a great example of a great man doing great deeds. I have and will continue to pray for your beloved family. As long as they have you up there, watching out for them..I have faith in our Lord they will find peace. Thank you for being the great man you were, Mr. Schroeder. You have left a legacy that will continue for generations to come. Much Love, Light and Peace. Shelly..

What a great gift God gave to you to have Jim for so many years and then to share him with so many people as he went along helping others. I was fortunate as I got to know him as a creeper as he was learning to walk good. I loved baby-sitting him the summer of 1946 when I married Bob and we moved into Curl Courts. Love, Mary Alice Curl - Amarillo

Jim gave me many hours of great times together. We enjoyed cars together and messing around just visiting. I cherish his trust he gave me and much wisdom he shared with me. I miss him, he was more like my Brother than just a friend. Thank you Jesus for the time Jim and I was able to share. I look forward to seeing him again one day when I get to go home to be in Heaven with Jesus and all my loved ones who have passed before.
