JESUS A. PINA Obituary
JESUS A. PINA Jesus A. Piña found peace and rest in the arms of our heavenly Father on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 in Weslaco, TX. Jesus was born November 6th, 1954 to Reyes and Candelaria Piña in Edinburg, TX, where he grew up and lived until his high school graduation. At 18, Jesus decided to devote himself to the protection of our country by joining the United States Air Force as a Communications Switch Technician, where a deep love of travel was born. While still serving in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Andrea Garza, and the two married in Washington in 1980 after he came out of the service. They decided to begin their life as a married couple back in the Rio Grande Valley, Jesus' home. Just out of the service, Jesus found a job with the company which would eventually become Verizon, working for them for over 35 years and forming many close, deep friendships during his faithful years of service. Jesus was blessed with 3 children from his 20 years of marriage, whom he loved deeply and unfalteringly. Among a love of movies, dancing and music, one of Jesus' greatest joys in life was taking road trips with his children as a family, especially ones to visit his country's beautiful national parks and monuments and other historic sites. Jesus was a passionate, dependable man who loved to joke with friends and enjoyed the comforting routine of his life. He is preceded in death by his father, Reyes Piña and sister, Rosemary Piña. He is survived by his son, Daniel Piña and wife, Lea; daughter, Kristina Lake and husband, Kyle; son, James Piña; mother, Candelaria Piña; sister, Mercy Chavez and husband, Jose; brother, Robert Sanchez and children, Robert II, Graciela and Matthew; and granddaughter, Victoria Brandenburg-Piña. The PIña family will receive friends today, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian mass will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg.
