Obituary Condolences

ELMA NORA REYNA Elma Nora Reyna, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 25, 2013 at her private residence in McAllen, Texas while in the presence of family and friends, at the age of 81. She was educated in Edinburg, Texas and was a 1948 graduate of Edinburg Senior High School. While there she met and dated her soul mate, David Reyna of La Joya, Texas. David and Elma Nora were married on September 23, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Edinburg, TX and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Shortly thereafter they relocated to Detroit, MI where they eventually raised their family in Taylor, Michigan. Elma Nora was employed with Ford Motor Company for several years as a Private Secretary and while there honing her skills, sang in the Ford Motor Company Choir. She loved to sing and play the piano. She then gained employment with General Motors Corporation where she was elevated to the position of Private Executive Secretary for Over Seas Operations, enjoyed two extended business trips to Spain and retired in 1984. During this same time she managed to return to school to further her education and earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Madonna College in Livonia, Michigan at age 52. Upon returning to the Rio Grande Valley in the summer of 1984 to enjoy retirement, Elma and David took up residence in McAllen, TX. At age 53 Elma Nora attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas and in 1986 received a Masters Degree of Science in Psychology. Starting a new career Elma Nora was employed with Mujeres Unidas counseling battered women. She later gained employment at MHMR in Edinburg where she then counseled battered children. She finished her second career with private consultations from her home. Elma loved to travel taking many trips with David and friends. She also loved to have parties inviting all of her friends and family. She was truly the gatherer and the life of the party and enjoyed doing all the cooking and baking. She will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and as a great friend to many, especially those from childhood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Jacoba Rodriguez; sisters, Amanda Rodriguez and Corina Salinas of Edinburg and brother, Rigoberto Rodriguez of Mission, Texas. She is survived by her husband David Reyna; sons, David R. Reyna (daughter-in-law, Judy Reyna) of McAllen, Ronald A. Reyna (daughter-in-law Linda Reyna) of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Daniel L. Reyna and William G. Reyna of Midland, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Chencha De La Garza of Austin, Texas; and brother, Marciel Rodriguez of Las Vegas, Nevada. On Monday, April 1, 2013, at Kreidler Funeral Home, visitation will take place from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm.
