Obituary Condolences

RICARDO ROEL SALINAS On June 10, 2013, Ricardo Roel Salinas departed to be with Our Lord surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. Ricardo was born on June 20, 1935 in the City of McAllen where he lived all of his life and lived with Alida Reyna Salinas, - his loving wife of 55 years. Richard, as many of his friends called him, was a Registered Professional Engineering and Registered Public Land Surveyor and a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a graduate of State of Texas Military Officers Academy in Austin, Texas and a graduate of the Military Officers Armor School in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mr. Salinas retired from the military with a rank of Captain after service of 21 years in the military. Richard also served the McAllen Catholic War Veterans as a State Vice Commander. He served the City of McAllen as City Commissioner and Mayor Pro-Tem and also served as a member of the McAllen/Hidalgo International Bridge Board and McAllen Economic Development Council including various other City advisory boards including the City of McAllen Traffic Commission, Building Board of Adjustment and Appeals. Richard was employed by the State of Texas Highway Department for thirteen years as a Chief Design Highway Engineer before starting his own Engineering and Surveying consulting firm - Salinas & Associates, Inc., where he worked in his company for over thirty-five years. Richard, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, is survived by five children - David Omar Salinas - married to Jayne Salinas, Arturo Armando Salinas - married to Thelma Salinas, Yvette Salinas, Roxanna Salinas and Ricardo Roel Salinas, Jr. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ricardo Omar Salinas married to Kassandra Salinas, Mickael Nicolas Salinas, Camila Paola Salinas, step grandson, David Noah Snyder, Arturo Armando Salinas, Jr. married to Monique Nicole Salinas, Andrew Anthony and Anthony Alexander Salinas. Also survived by two brothers, Ramiro Salinas and Raul Salinas; and one sister, Maria Elida Salinas. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, June 11, 2013 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral mass will be said at 11:30 am Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. Interment will follow at ValleyMemorialGardens in Mission.
