MARGUERITE LEE (SAVAGE) WORTHINGTON WESLACO - Marguerite Lee (Savage) Worthington, 90, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at Valley Grande Manor in Weslaco. She was born June 24, 1923 in Brewer, Maine. She graduated from Brewer High School and attended Bangor Maine School of Commerce. Margie, as she was better known to her friends, worked at Bangor Air Base. She married Donald Eugene Worthington, October 25, 1943, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy; after Donald's discharge, they moved to the Lansing, Michigan area, and then to the Tio Grande Valley in 1980. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, son, daughter, and her husband of 67 years, Donald. She is survived by Diane Dowell of Lansing, MI., who Margie would quickly tell you she loved as her own and referred to her as "her other daughter", several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends. Margie was a charter member of Church of the Remnant Hope in Weslaco, and served as children's Bible study teacher; and anywhere she was needed. She was known for her delicious desserts which she loved to share with her friends. At Margie's request, her remains were cremated and she requested no services be held.
