Obituary Condolences

SGT. MAJOR MIGUEL A. YZNAGA Sgt. Major Miguel A. Yznaga, Miguel Yznaga died August 29 at his home in Edinburg. He was 69. A member of two pioneer Valley families, Yznaga was a retired Army Sargent Major in Army Intelligence and the JAG corps. When he retired from the Army, Yznaga embarked on a 15-year education career during which he taught history and coached debate at Edcouch-Elsa and Donna High schools. He also taught at the Joe B. Evins Regional Detention Facility.Yznaga received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas Pan American. He also attended the St. Mary's University in San Antonio. He graduated from Corpus Christi College Academy and attended Brownsville St. Joseph Academy throughout both elementary and high school. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Yznaga; his parents, Miguel and Teresa Yznaga, and a sister, Carmelita Yznaga. Survivors include his son, Thomas Yznaga (Silvia) and two grandchildren, Michael and Amanda, all of Germany.The body was cremated. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2013, 10:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Edinburg, TX. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
