STANLEY SHEINBERG Obituary
STANLEY SHEINBERG Stanley Sheinberg lost his battle with cancer Friday, December 13, 2013. Stan was born in Brooklyn, NY May 20, 1932 to Morris and Dora (Sugarman) Sheinberg. After High School, he worked for CBS in New York City until he joined the Air Force in 1952. While stationed in Austin, TX he met and married Reba Meyerowitz. Stan worked for Levine's Department Store throughout the state of Texas before moving to Corsicana to work for K Wolens. In 1972, the Sheinberg's moved to McAllen, to manage and ultimately own Merchant's Fabric and Linens Warehouse. Stan was proud to support the various choirs, bands and drama classes in the valley schools with fabric from the store. Merchant's Fabric had a special relationship with UT Pan American. From 1973 to 1996, there was not a play at the University that did not have various items from the store. Stan had a close relationship with his employees, many of whom he considered family. He kept in close touch with many of them and was honored to see many of them as his health began to fail. Stan had an unending love of baseball. He and Reba loved to travel. Whether driving across country, cruising, or flying to Europe or Asia, they loved the adventure. Stan could always make things lighter with his ability to put humor into any situation. The family would like to thank the friends who helped Stan and Reba in the recent years. Your help, support and love is and was greatly appreciated. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Janice Wright, and his brother Bernie. He is survived by Reba, his wife of 60 years; son, Howard (Teri) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Marian, (Emilio) Freeman of Miami, FL, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The Graveside service will be Monday 11:00 AM, December 16, 2013 at Temple Emanuel Cemetery on south Ware Rd. in McAllen, Tx. In lieu of flowers please send donations to MD Anderson Anal Cancer Research, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210 in memory of Janice S. Wright and Stanley D.
