1929 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
JUAN J. ZAPATA, SR. McALLEN- Juan J. Zapata, Sr., 84, went to be with our Lord, Friday, January 3, 2014 at McAllen Medical Center. Juan was born June 24, 1929 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, but lived all his life in McAllen. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Mr. Zapata was a Mason for more than forty years. His passion for music and dance always brought him happiness. Those who knew him always enjoyed his contagious smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Christina Zapata, two brothers Rogelio and Francisco Zapata; three sisters Jacoba Z. Macias, Rafaela Z. Garza, Petra Z. Gallegos and daughter Antonia Zapata. Juan is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maria Perfecta Zapata; his adoring children Dolores Z. (Guadalupe) Perez, Juan J (Myra), Zapata, Jr., Christina Z. (Roberto) Lopez, Adolfo Zapata, Lauro (Cindy) Zapata, Sr., Dora Zapata, Teresa Zapata, Raquel Z. (Antonio) Ambriz, and Isela Z. (Augustine) Vicente; two brothers Alejandro Zapata of Austin, Texas and Cruz Zapata of McAllen; 23 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitations will begin today Monday, January 6, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of McAllen. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas with VFW Post #8788 conducting full military honors.
