LAZARO R. (LARRY) GONZALEZ JR. Lazaro R. (Larry) González Jr., 67, entered into eternal rest on Monday February 17, 2014, after a short illness. All those who love Larry and would like to pay their respects and support his family, may visit him on Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 2 to 8 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. Larry was born to parents Lazaro R. González Sr. and Consuelo González. A lifelong resident of McAllen, Texas, he was a proud graduate of McAllen High School and attended the University of Texas Pan American. He honorably served as a medic in The Texas National Guard and heroically worked as a firefighter for the City of McAllen. Larry was well-known in the RGV for his expertise in marketing and sales for Lone Star beer and Valley Beverage Distributors. He was preceded in death by his father and HERO, WWII Veteran, Lazaro Sr., and grandparents Serafín and Esperanza Rodríguez and Juan and Luisa Gonzales. Larry is survived by his dearly loved and cherished mother, Consuelo González; wife, Oralia; daughter (His "Pumpkin"), Suzette; two sons ("mijito lindos") John Robert and Michael Anthony and daughter-in-law, Aisha; two grandchildren, Anthony and Nicolas, all of McAllen; brother, Robert and Terry González of Jacksonville, and two sisters and brother-in-law, Melva Codina of Austin and Gilda ("Seeester") and Herón Sánchez of McAllen; and Xochie Sarabia, mother of his oldest son. Survivors also include aunts and uncles Oralia Rodríguez, Ramón S. Rodríguez, Juan José Rodríguez, all of McAllen, Ofelia Treviño of Edinburg, and Juan F. Gonzales, Sr. of Raymondville. Larry will be missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends, too numerous to count, but each very special to his heart. Pallbearers are John Robert Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Alan Codina, Jason McWhorter, Matthew Barker, Candice Mendoza-Vera, Mark Mendoza, Chris González, Ismael Cruz, David Rodriguez, Heron Sanchez, and Robert Gonzalez. Apart from humming his favorite country songs, playing golf and fishing, he was a devoted son, proud father/grandfather and loving brother. Larry, AKA "Scary Larry" was everybody's "best friend," and a true gentleman. He had a kind heart and his generosity was an inspiration to friends and family. He lived his life with integrity and bravery. His three kids know that "Pops" lived his life to the fullest, with absolutely NO REGRETS. He asks that you stop by and share the stories that he can no longer tell. Kreidlerfuneralhome.com Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
