1928 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
YOLANDA VILLARREAL Yolanda Villarreal has journeyed ahead of us with our Lord and Savior on March 8, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Inez Zarate Villarreal; her brother, Carlos V.; and her sister, Carmen V. Peña. She was born on July 07, 1928, in the village of La Grulla, Texas. Yolanda was among the first converts to the Mennonite Brethren Church of La Grulla and was baptized on March 3, 1948. Yolanda felt that God led her to child evangelism, so she taught child evangelism classes in her work for the gospel of Christ. Her humble beginnings and extraordinary service to God may have been the catalyst to develop a multi-talented character that gave her the desire and motivation to be a child evangelist and school teacher. She will always be remembered as a giving, kind person who put God first in her life. At the age of 49 she began her teaching career at the Mission Independent school district until she retired at the age of 70. She lived a great life and has been an excellent role model to her friends and family. She is survived by her brother in law, Ricardo R. Peña; her beloved nieces and nephews: Carlos (Hirma) Peña, Federico (Belen) Peña, Dina P. (Jesse) Medina, Rebecca (Jim) Elam, Ricardo (Anna) Peña and David (Nina) Peña. A prayer service was held on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. today, March 10, 2014, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens located at 3605 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, Texas. Funeral services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
