Bruce Michael Cotter, age 75 of Weidman, MI, formerly of Grand Ledge passed away December 7, 2013 in Weidman at his home. He was born April 14, 1938 in Lansing, MI, son of Harold and Helen (Beutler) Cotter. Bruce married Janice Hayes on November 2, 1957. He served 38 years with the Michigan Army National Guard. He retired as an aircraft maintenance supervisor November of 1993. Bruce was a member of the Quiet Birdman Lansing Hanger, Weidman Lions Club, St. Joseph The Worker Church, and the Knights of Columbus of Beal City. His many interests was a great love and knowledge of aviation, snowmobiling in the U.P. and Canada with family and friends; fishing, reading, golf, traveling and camping with friends; also a loyal and big fan of the "Spartans".
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Janice of 56 years from Grand Ledge, MI, one son Todd (Julie) Cotter, two daughters, Kim (Tim) Sheerin of Grand Ledge and Jeanine Reeder of Fenwick; six grandsons, three granddaughters and four great grandchildren; three sisters: Sandra Brammel of Lansing, Nancy Cotter and Janice (Vern) Smith of Grand Ledge; sister-in-law Ingrid Hayes of Lansing; several nieces, nephews and two uncles, John (Donna) Beutler of Lansing and Ernest (Betty) Beutler of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jill Marie, his son-in-law Gordon Reeder; parents Harold and Helen Cotter; his in-laws Lisle and Alma Hayes; brother-in-law Harold Hayes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Joan (Hayes) Young.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013, 11 a.m. at the St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with Father James Eisele as celebrant. Military Graveside Services will follow at North Eagle Cemetery, Eagle Twp., Clinton County. The family will receive family and friends at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Service to begin at 7 p.m., in conjunction with a service by the Quiet Birdmen. Janice, we were sorry to learn of Bruce's passing. At such times, my mind goes back to the good years we had together at MEE and I remember Bruce being part of our parties etc. You will miss him and we wish you God's comfort in the days ahead.

I am so sorry to hear about Bruce's passing. And, I am so sorry to not be able to be there and give you all a big hug and reminisce about all the fun and crazy Leota snowmobiling times we had together! Each time you have a memory of Bruce, your heart will swell with love and other great lifetime memories. Words cannot express our heavy hearts or sadness felt for the Cotter family. Bruce was a great mentor and touched countless lives at the AASF during his stellar career. He will be remembered with fondness and tremendous admiration.
