Taylor, Walter* - Mount Pleasant  
Taylor, Walter; age 88; Val Rico, FL formerly of Alma; passed away Thursday June 2, 2016 with his wife, Vera and three sons by his side. Per his wishes a cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to East Superior Christian Church of Alma. Interment will be at Chapel Gardens, Alma. Walter was born in Saginaw, Michigan December 30, 1927, the son of James and Ethel (Brice) Taylor. He married Vera Ellen Howell May 11, 1956. Walt began working at the old Alma airport doing anything that needed to be done. When the manager left on vacation and never returned he took on that position from 1949 till 1982 and was instrumental in setting up, managing, and bringing in new business when the airport was moved to its current location. In addition, to managing the airport, he ran the cab company and concession area.He and Vera found time to provide a foster home for dozens of children in the Gratiot County area. Their home was always alive with the sounds of children having fun and being loved. Retiring in Florida he soon found himself needing to be busy so he took employment with Kmart, then eventually settled in Val Rico, FL working for CSX Railroad until full retirement. Walt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera of Valrico, FL. Three sons Robert (Robbyen) Taylor of Tampa FL.; Edward (DeAnna) Taylor of Ithaca; and Allen Taylor of Largo, FL. Four grandchildren Amber (Robert) Ryan of Davie, FL, Robert Jr. (Emma) Taylor of Spring Creek, NV; Anthony Taylor of Ithaca and Amiee Taylor of St. Louis; and six great grandchildren. Four sisters, Virginia Salvatore, Joyce (Marlin) Clark, Gladys Miller, Alma Moyer and Judy Sutton, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Linda D. Taylor and Brenda Taylor; brothers Vernon and Duane Taylor; sisters Marilyn Doolittle, and Terry Anderson.
