JACKSON, ELIJAH RICHARD; known to everyone as “Yogi”; of the Isabella Indian Reservation passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016. He was 83. Funeral Services for Yogi will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in Chippewa Township Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Chippewa United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Yogi was born May 28, 1932 in Rosebush, Michigan to Willis Sr. and Elizabeth (Williams) Jackson. He retired from Central Michigan University’s Facilities Maintenance Department in 1993. Yogi was a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. His father, Willis Sr., served on the first federally recognized Tribal Council, and continued to serve as Chief for several years. Yogi was one of the first volunteer bingo callers. He collected many things, especially classic cars and antiques. Yogi loved to travel and he loved to camp. He especially loved deer camp. Although he did not have children of his own, he was blessed to be a Dad, and uncle to many generations of kids, and Grandpa to Scott, Tyrone, and Jenna. Yogi was the last surviving member of the Willis and Elizabeth Jackson family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Russell, Joe, Harold, Willis Jr., and Edison; sisters Mary, Winifred, Maxine, and several nieces and nephews. Yogi’s generous and kind spirit, as well as his infectious smile will be greatly missed. Jackson, Leola “Lee” M.; St. Louis, MI; born August 16, 1928. Our beloved mom, “gram”, and friend was welcomed into the comforting arms of the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the age of 87, surrounded by the love and prayers of her caring family and friends. Lee was a faithful member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 71 years. Other active memberships included MARSP and the First United Methodist Church. Lee enjoyed her Wednesday breakfast club, family gatherings, traveling, old and new friendships, weekly bingo, working puzzles, breakfast any time, and U of M sport teams. On February 1, 1947, Lee married her love and life’s companion, the late Alfred H. Jackson (W.W.II Veteran). With Alfred by her side, Lee raised 4 children: Nancy (Noah), Randy (Cathy), Jeff (Marda), and Joel (Gwen). Awaiting a glorious reunion with Lee are 5 generations of family: her 4 children; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; siblings; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted friends. Please join the family in a memorial celebration of Lee’s life at 11 a.m. (visitation with family at 10 a.m.) on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, 116 S. Franklin St., St. Louis, MI 48880. Her Interment will take place Monday, May 9, 2016, at 12 Noon at Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville, MI. Lee requests that memorial contributions be given in lieu of flowers to: First United Methodist Church, St. Louis, MI. Lord, thank you for lending us this AMAZING lady! What a blessed privilege it is to have known her. She is deeply loved and missed.
