Stearns, Francis K., “Bud”; 92; of Gaylord and formerly of Alma; died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, in Gaylord. Bud was retired from Consumers Power and he was a former chief of the Alma Fire Department. Visitation in Gaylord will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue. Visitation in Alma will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Masonic Pathways-Doig Chapel followed by Funeral Services at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Wickware, Pauline Marguerite "Williams"* - St. Louis  
Wickware, Pauline Marguerite (Williams); age 93; passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014; at the Schnepp Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in St. Louis. Pauline was born in Edmore on October 4, 1921, the daughter of William and Marjorie (Royer) Nelson. She graduated as the valedictorian of the Vestaburg graduating class of 1939. She continued her education, attending an additional year of college business classes. Pauline was employed as a price analyst at Hitachi; retiring in 1983. She married Harry “Si” Williams in 1944 in Saginaw and later married Donald Wickware in 1983 in Lakeview. She enjoyed sewing (all the time), making crafts, cooking (making her own recipes), traveling, square dancing, quilting, flower gardening, and yard saling. She especially loved to shop. Pauline had an awesome sense of humor. Pauling is survived by her children, Sue (Harold) Brown of Shepherd, Janice (Michael) Ball of Mt. Pleasant, Annette (Warren) Galvin of Vestaburg; step-daughters, Micki (Ken) Baker) of Lakeview, Maxine (John) Horvath of Plainwell; grandchildren, Kenneth Brown, Christopher Ball, Alexander Ball, Alisha Nokes, Spencer Galvin; step-grandchildren, Kevin Bouck, Steve Bouck, Mike Bouck, Jenni Bouck, Donna Mahieu, Greg Horvath, John Horvath, Emily Horvath and many great and great great grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her two husbands, Harry and Donald; two infants; her parents, William and Marjorie; and her brother, Albert Nelson. A Celebration of Life service has been scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street, Edmore with Pastor George Showers, officiating. The family will receive the love and support from friends and extended family members at a Visitation scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Winn. Memorial donations in the Pauline’s honor may be made payable to the Isabella County Commission on Aging in Mt. Pleasant, God’s Helping Hands in Remus or the Seville Community Church of God. Quillen, Hedy* - Mt. Pleasant  
Hedy Quillen; age 95; of Mt. Pleasant; passed away Monday, December. 15, 2014 at Woodland Hospice. A Funeral Mass for Hedy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning 4:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or the Mt. Pleasant Soup Kitchen. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Hedy was born July 18, 1919, in Isabella County, daughter of the late Jacob and Agatha (Jenny) Neyer. She married Patrick Quillen on Nov. 29, 1947 at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Chicago, IL. She attended Beal City Schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1937. She worked in a variety of occupations including sales at Carson-Pirie-Scott as well as being a cook and nurse maid in Florida. For the most part, Hedy was busy as a homemaker, raising 11 children. Her faith in God was the center of her life. She enjoyed painting, baking bread and pies, vegetable gardening, and sewing. Most of all, Hedy enjoyed being with her family, who looked to her as its pillar of faith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a small women’s bible study group. Hedy is survived by 10 children, Carol Quillen of Beal City, Michael Quillen of Mecosta, Connie (Jerry) Miller of Martinez, CA, Barbara Crandall of Beal City, Deborah (Marty) Predmesky of Beal City, Elizabeth (John) Judge of Winn, Daniel Quillen of Hastings, Brian Quillen of St. Johns, Heidi Quillen of Mt. Pleasant, and Julie (Phil) Gross of Beal City; 22 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and her sister, Agnes Engler of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband Patrick; son, Mark; three brothers, John, Frank, and Tony Neyer; and three sisters, Matilda Leik, Frances Neyer, and Mary Neyer. Reiss, Herschel G.* - Farewell  
Reiss, Herschel G., Jr.; age 86; passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. A lifelong Farwell resident and owner of Reiss Real Estate until his retirement. He is survived by his son, Alan H. Reiss of Farwell; his sister, Nancy Howe and husband, Rev. Dr. Leroy of Dallas TX; and his daughter-in-law, Karen (Reiss) Rohdy and husband, Don of Barryton. A Service is planned for Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Campbell-Stocking Family Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Connie Bongard and the Rev. Dr. Leroy Howe will officiate.
