Daniel L. Schatzer; age 65; of St. Louis, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his home. He was born April 22, 1947 in Essexville the son of Lloyd and Elaine (Charters) Schatzer. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1967. In 1987 he married Kathryn Dishaw in Bay City.
Daniel worked for General Motors at the Bay City Powertrain Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the local UAW 362 where he served as a committeeman. He was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed hunting, coin collecting and building and flying model airplanes.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Kathryn of St. Louis, two children, Carrie Schatzer of Pinconning and Daniel Schatzer of Bay City, four step-children, Steven (Katie) Cross of Sanford, Stephanie Cross of Stanton, Spencer (Mandy) Cross of Guthrie, KY and Scott Cross of Allensville, KY, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; also two sisters, Patricia Grzegorczyk of Bay City, Judy Wales of Essexville, a brother, David Schatzer of Essexville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Patrick Grzegorczyk and Mark Wales.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home in St. Louis with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating. Interment will be in Jasper Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
