Donald Earl Worgess, age 82, of Weidman passed away with his family by his side on Monday, December 30, 2013 at his home.
Funeral Services for Donald will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 12 Noon with Bishop Travis Hall officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Donald was born on January 21, 1931 in Detroit, the son of John and Nina (Giffin) Worgess. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 24th Infantry Division. He married Beverly Rushing on March 28, 1953 in Lincoln Park. He was a member of the James A. Cliff Masonic Lodge 424 in Weidman and a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. Donald loved God and regularly attended the Central Assembly of God. Along with vacationing with his wife in Ocala, FL, Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and karate. He had owned his own karate club for many years.
Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; daughter, Tracie Matthews of Lincoln Park; four grandchildren, Angela Pritt, Traci (Mark) Bendle, Michael Pritt, and Brandi Matthews; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Pritt; parents and stepfather, Andrew Polaskey; siblings, Jack, Leroy "Bud", and Dawn; and half siblings, Robert and Gwendolyn.
