Eugene Barnhard "Tunny" McBride

Eugene "Tunny" Barnhard McBride, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Covenant-Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. Tunny was born on February 25, 1927 in Isabella County, the son of Emmet C. and Opal Rose (Emlinger) McBride. In November 1953, Tunny married Wilma Jean Rockafellow in Indiana. Wilma preceded him in death on November 5, 2010.
Tunny and Wilma owned and operated the Shingleton Inn in Shingleton, Michigan for nine years. He owned and operated the Mt. Pleasant Septic Tank Service for many years. Tunny enjoyed fishing, hunting, football and baseball. He wintered in Florida for many years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his daughter, Karla Howe and her husband, Daniel; three grandchildren, Melanie McBride, Karla Jean Sian and Katie Marie Sian-Jacox; also two brothers, Lyle and Sharon McBride and Gary and Julie McBride; two sisters, Lorraine Davis and Barbara and Joel Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Mark; infant daughter, Cheryl Ann McBride; grandson, Nathaniel McBride; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Haymaker of the Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment of the cremated remains in Chippewa Township Cemetery beside his wife at a later date. Friends and family will gather on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Community Cancer Services. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
