Lysle Wesley Calkins, age 90, of Rosebush Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Tendercare Nursing Home in Clare.
Lysle was born on March 4, 1923, in Rosebush (Calkinsville) Michigan, to William Augusta and Jennie Irene (Froggett) Calkins. He was one of six children, which included: Nelson, Dorothy, Ralph, Inez, Merle.
Lysle married the love of his life, Anna Moore on July 26, 1947 in Rosebush. They lived on their farm in Rosebush where they raised cattle, pigs, milked cattle, grew crops. Lysle enjoyed being in a field on a tractor or working on his farm or going to the Clare stock yard or any auction. He was a very hard working man and loved his job as a farmer. He also enjoyed watching baseball or wrestling. Lysle and Anna were members at the Rosebush Presbyterian Church for many years.
Lysle and Anna had 4 children, Sally Foster, Penny Delaney, Raymond Calkins deceased in 1981, and Gary Potter. Survivors include: 4 children, Gary (Bobbie) Potter of Ohio, Sally Foster of Beaverton, Penny Delaney of Lansing; 7 grandchildren, Rhonda (Tim) Hall of Missorui, Dale (Kim) Potter of Kentucky, Lisa (Dennis) McKidden of Ohio, Raymond (Lori) Calkins of Rosebush, Gidget (Dean) Gluch of Shepherd, Alana Matt of Mt. Pleasant, Nicholas Stadtmiller of Lansing; 16 great grandchildren, Tyler, Kara, Blake, Brandon, Kade'n, Shawn, Kamden, Zachary, Robby, Jennah, Madison, Karley, Jazmin, Ryan, Jadain, and Grady; 3 sisters-in-law, Marion Calkins, Ilene Calkins, and Lois Moore; 36 nieces and nephews and 20 great nephews and 20 great nieces. Lysle was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Calkins; a son, Raymond Calkins, Brothers Nelson, Ralph, Merle; sisters, Inez Rodgers and Dorothy Wiltse.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Rydman officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery beside his wife Anna. Friends may call at the Rowley Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Rosebush Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
