Randolph-Walter, Mona Lou; age 79; of Shepherd; passed away after a short battle with cancer, July 28, 2014 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 1 p.m. from the Shepherd United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Kursch officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. at The Berry Funeral Home and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Mona Lou was born on September 6, 1934 in Jackson to Ralph Arden and Mildred (Otto) Rosel. She married Harley Randolph September 26, 1953 in Munith, he preceded her in death, July 23, 1998. Mona Lou married Carl Walter June 22, 2002 in Shepherd. Mona Lou moved to Shepherd with her family when her husband, Harley was transferred there to manage the Skelgas Company in Alma and Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Shepherd United Methodist Church where she was active with its missions committee. Mona Lou worked as a secretary for Gould Drug Company at their warehouse and later for Greens Pharmacy and Punch’s Pharmacy as a clerk. She served as Coe Twp. Clerk for several years after working in the drug store. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved attending their sporting events. Mona Lou is survived by her husband, Carl Walter; and five children, Gail (Jim) Pifer of Shepherd, Jan Randolph of Ypsilanti, Terri (Mike) Smith of DeWitt, Doug (Eva) Randolph of Shepherd and Kelly (Kent) Moeggenborg of Rockford; and three step-children, Doug (Mary Jane) Walter of St. Johns, Lisa (Tom) Davarn of Pewamo, and Mary Jo (Bruce) Wirth of Fowler. her two sisters, Joanne (Cliff) Schuler of Jackson, and Karen (Ken) Schmidt of Traverse City; and her brother, Tom (Nancy) Rosel of Petoskey; grandchildren, Cody and Keegan Pifer, Telah, Sam and Jared Smith, Jake and Jenna Randolph, Kalen, Kaden, Kierstyn and Kasey Moeggenborg; and her nine step-grandchildren, Kim, Jenny, David, Matthew, Katherine, Jessica, Bethany, Dustin and Tori; step-great grandchildren, Jordan, Myles, Greysen and Addison; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and two sister-in-laws, Lois Hickey of Jackson and Delores (Joe) Young of Gregory. Mona Lou was preceded in death by her first husband, Harley; her parents; and three infant grandchildren, Jamie Pifer and Tara and Taryn Smith.
